These enamelled earrings are made using copper, with silver and gold details that stand out against the high fired white enamel, which creates blue tones at high temperatures. You can wear this as a stand alone piece of jewellery or pair it with one of my bracelets or necklaces for a unique and exciting look. How it’s made...
Enamelling is an ancient craft, which uses powdered glass and fuses it onto a metal. I use a sieve to apply powdered glass (enamel) onto copper, and then fire each piece in my kiln at approximately 800 degrees. I then apply silver and gold detailing and refire the pieces with a clear layer of enamel over the top. Both sides of the piece are enamelled to ensure that it is stable and will not oxidise against your skin. After the piece cools down I clean it and attach the findings. Due to the nature of enamelling each piece may have slight differences and variations from the photos that are listed.
